Rufus scoffs. "That's the most ridiculous thing I've heard today."
"It's sad that you just looked down on my value. I don't have time for a serious discussion. You only have 30 minutes." The memory fades out, then back in as it skips and continues. "It's a shortcut to the Tower of Memories—a place where the memories and consciousness of the dead are stored."
The memory skips again, this time settling on Rufus, who asks, "Is this your attempt at controlling us for your plan?"
"It's all right," says the man. "This is . . . nothing more than an act of kindness for the sons of my friend. When I first saw you two, I knew that you were his children."
"Are you going to deny that you're his son when the same blue flames as your father, Legis, burn within your chest?"
Rufus is quiet.
"I, I don't have a father," stammers the boy.
"Seeing as I don't have blue flames, I must not be his son. How fortunate," says Rufus, blandly.
"Hey, that's not what I mean." The man looks between Rufus and the boy. "I guess things are still awkward between you two. You guys take care of your business."]
[ I'M IN TEARS. she doesn't remember blue flames being associated with demons since her memory is swiss cheese but it's fine. it doesn't stop her taking it all in and....wondering what it all actually meant. there's something happening here that's beyond the scope of the memory and.
well... tower of memories, was it? that's interesting. she doubts that it's related to what is happening here but you never know, right? though, is rufus and that other guy towards the end brothers..? they hardly look the same but that doesn't mean anything even if she has only met siblings whose family resemblance was striking. ...right?hm. ]

[It's interesting, all right. The blue flame does not frighten Rufus, but Izumo's reaction in the memory causes his heart to race for a fleeting moment. Schooling his expression to its usual impassivity, he watches Izumo for her response.]
[ honestly? she's a bit mystified as well by the memory since, for her, as soon as she sees it the memory of it fades from her. the details are fuzzy and she frowns.
