Huh... I kind of envy you for that. The entire reason I wanted to become a hero is... kind of selfish, in a way, so if the wish is real, I don't think I'd be able to say no to using it to make that happen.
Mm, but no one's entirely anything. Even the best heroes have flaws, and... I don't know, the worst villains probably have some good points, too. I don't think anyone should be afraid of that.
Well, my world does have heroes and villains, but aside from that...
[ this one, she'll answer slowly, thinking carefully about the words she chooses. ]
A good person would be... someone who wants to help or support people. It doesn't have to be someone who goes out of their way to protect people, or to fight bad people, because not everyone can do something like that. But I think it's someone who wants the best for those they love, or for their community, even if they can't actively do something to make that happen. And... it's someone who doesn't want to hurt people, if they can help it.
And a bad person... I think that's someone who thinks about themselves about all else, or only cares about the welfare of a few people and would actively try to make life worse for everyone else. They're the people who don't care if they hurt someone as long as they get their way.
[ ochako chews on the inside of her cheek for a moment before adding: ]
But I think there are a lot of shades of gray involved, for some people. Sometimes it's not as simple as who's a bad person or a good person. Like... maybe someone tried to be good, but the world kept telling them they weren't, so after a while, they give up. Or maybe there's someone who acts good, but doesn't have the best intentions - like they're only being "good" in public because it will make them famous or something, but otherwise they're cruel to the people around them when they're somewhere more private.
[ she'll listen thoughtfully and not comment on anything that ochako has to say or inject. no, she'll listen to every word and even making note of the exceptions that she makes...the gray. ]
If that's how you've defined a bad and a good person, then I guess I'm a bad person.
[ its just a broad definition, at best, one that pchako knows cant cover everything. but kamimi-san never struck her as someone who would actively try to hurt people. ]
[ give her a moment and prepare for a pretty poor take on humanity. ]
Nothing pleasant or ideal. [ she admits easy enough. ] If there are "good" people out there then they're only good for however long they have before they aren't.
The only thing you can expect from people for them to want what's best for them without really thinking about what others might want.
[ she won't argue izumo's world view with her. there's a reason she thinks the way that she does, and ochako knows that she won't appreciate prying much further. ]
Even if most people are looking out for themselves... I don't think that inherently means that they're bad, or that they don't care about anyone else at all. It's when they start hurting other people on purpose, just because they can, that makes it different.
That's what I think, anyway. And you don't really strike me as the kind of person to be cruel just because.
this is a kind of conversation that she doubts would end with a mutual understanding. the best that either could hope for is a mutual acceptance that neither one of them will see eye-to-eye and honestly? that might be the best. which is to say that izumo is going to let it go. ]
You should reserve your judgement about people until you've gotten to know them better.

Never would have thought that you'd honest about that kind of thing.
no subject
Why wouldn't I be honest? It's a little embarrassing not having more altruistic motives, but it's not worth lying about it.

Maybe. I guess a lot of people like to pretend they don't have any flaws, huh?
no subject
It's either they're entirely good or they're entirely bad; anything in the middle is too confusing for most.

[ izumo doesn't know anything about ochako's heroes and she as hell doesn't have any of those in her world. ]

I'm certainly not a good person under your perspectives, so I'll take to being a bad person. I don't mind.

I think it's kind of hard to define something like that, one way or another. People are that simple.
So the... what are they to you, Kamiki-san?

Would you let me, Kamiki-san? Get to know you better?

Don't waste your time on trying to get to know me.
