Well, at least there's time to practice. I'll find something to write with, and I'll copy down the chants we're most likely to need here. That way you can spend time memorizing them.

That boy, Shima. If he's anything like his brothers, he's going to be useless at Aria. We'll need to keep an eye out for him.

[He is. Absolutely zeroing in on that attitude right there. Because he's taught teenagers for like 30 years, he knows a thing or two about them.]

'He's nothing like his brothers at all.' So you've met them. They're all old enough to be out of the exorcist academy by now, so you must've gone on a trip to his hometown to visit them, or they must've come to town and he introduced them to you. That's what friends would do, or maybe a couple.

But you're not all lovey-dovey, so you're not a couple, yeah?

[ that's some astute (or not) observation there, shiro, and izumo isn't going to confirm which way is correct because she isn't sure how that will affect things. should she be concerned with timelines??

You'd probably get along better with one of my sons. Of course, he's so dense about people-things he wouldn't realize anything was going on.

[ SHE IS NOT GOING TO CONFIRM OR DENY THAT CLAIM. and honestly the fact that he brings his sons (who she has a very unfortunate idea who they are) is kind of...interesting. ]

Yep. I've got two boys. Good kids, but a little dense.

Rin and Yukio. Actually, you might know Yukio, he goes to the same school you're in.

Yukio Fujimoto? I don't recall anyone by that name.

Nah, it's Yukio Okumura.

[Time to come clean on that at least.]

They're not my kids by blood. I found 'em on my church doorstep when they were newborns. But they're still my boys, no matter what. You don't need to share blood to be family.

Weren't you concerned where they came from?

What's it matter? Regardless of where they came from, they were babies out in the cold snow. And everyone deserves a chance to live, yeah?

I'm sure they didn't come from good circumstances. Babies that come from loving homes don't get left on church doorsteps. But that doesn't matter. What matters is the life they live, and the people they choose to be.

[ s...surprise part two on her behalf as she just goes quiet. it kind of feels wrong knowing this, honestly, but it's not like she can suddenly say that she knows them now. ]

[Her reaction there, that tells him what he needs to know. She wouldn't be taking it so seriously if she didn't already know at least one of the twins, so.]

Do you think they've been doing a good job of choosing who they want to be?

[ BUSTED. and well, it's kind of nice that he called her out than her needing to. she pauses for a moment before sighing. ]

One of them, for sure. Nothing has been normal since he started.

Ha! I figured it'd be something like that. But it's good to hear that they're both there, I was worried about Rin for a while.

How far into the future are you, compared to me?

I'm not sure. Probably a couple of months.

[ she's down playing a lot, okay? ]

[lionson]

As far as I can remember, it's early April. School's supposed to start in less than a week. So it's summer for you?

[sacredchants]

[ she'll nod. ]

It's just about beginning.

[lionson]

So a few months ahead of me.

Do you know if Shima is from the same time as you?

[sacredchants]

[ her skin will crawl every time he mentions that name but she'll endure it. ]

He's from ahead of me.

[ supposedly. ]

[lionson]

[There it is again. This time, Shiro will leave it be.]

Ahh, interesting. Now we just have to figure out how they're pulling us from different worlds and times.
